On The Road, In The Air, On The Water

March – June 2008

The Thin Green Line Foundation was invited to show the film and speak a the Californian Park Rangers conference in Lake Tahoe and at a Spanish film festival, Cinestrat. I was honored to receive the Honorary Lifetime Rangers Award from the Californian Park Rangers association of California and to present the world rangers’ story to a crowd of 300 Californian rangers.

A day later I was on a stage in the coastal mountains of southern Spain addressing a film festival audience at Cinestrat, in the
town of Finestrat. The foundation received a 4000 Euro prize to go toward the foundation’s work, as well as recognition
from the audience.

Both events contributed separately to a round world airfare which has allowed me to stay in Spain and present to a ranger
conference in Burgos, north central Spain, and a few days later at the Iberian Rangers conference in Portugal where I also
presented the film and story of rangers working on the frontline around the world.

Along with some Portuguese rangers and Marcelo – a Uruguayan ranger working in the Amazon of Brazil – I helped present
at a number of Portuguese schools to increase the profile of rangers and conservation within Portugal and to raise
awareness in the school children of the valuable work rangers are doing (but can only do with everyone’s support!).
